FITgroups offer one-on-one exercise programs and a number of weekly exercise classes, including gentle stretching, fitness walking and toning. They take place across the county, in Athenry, Claregalway, Oranmore, Renmore, Knocknacarra and Salthill, along with educational talks on health and exercise topics relevant to healthy ageing.

FITgroups, a non gym-based health and fitness service in Galway, has lots to offer. It is a small, personal and friendly service and is now offering a variety of fitness options including one on one and group personal training in the home and/or outdoors, plus a number of weekly classes in Claregalway, Knocknacarra, Salthill and Oranmore. This variety ensures all areas of our health and fitness are targeted, namely aerobic fitness (for a healthy heart and lungs), strength, balance, mobility and flexibility.

Leisureland Fitness is Galway's straight talking gym. Our Gym has great facilities to offer whether you are a fitness enthusiast or have never been to a gym before. We are not here to judge you…just to help.

Alternatively if you would like to try us out before joining why not use our Pay as you go Gym option, which is only € 10 for Adults, and € 8 for Students, Unemployed and Seniors. Coordinate your gym session with a public swimming session to get even more value for your money!

Just be aware that members do get preference over Pay as you go customers. So as a result during busy times the pay as you go option may be temporarily suspended. It not a common occurance but just be aware that it may happen.

Aerobics - This energetic class is designed to facilitate cardiovascular fitness as well as redefine the upper and lower body. It combines a balance of high and low impact aerobic moves and finishes with a cool down and stretch.

Body Tone - Works all the main muscle groups with light weights, toning and shaping the body whilst burning away body fat.

Abs Blast - A short intense workout which consists of the class completing a number of exercises which provide a workout to the abdominal and oblique regions of the stomach.

Circuit - A 60 minute circuit class is desinged to incoporate sporting skills with body conditioning and strength exercices. 6 stations guarantee a total body workout.

Stability / Fit Ball - This class focuses the workout on the core body muscles, using an inflated ball giving a good overall toning to the body

Tae Bo - Using the technique of martial arts and boxing combined to give you an aerobic workout. Punch, kick, uppercut, jab and round house kick make up just one of the many combinations used in class. This class is more of an advanced class, but a few weeks practice and you'll be up to speed.

Urban Rebound - This is a brand new class to NRG. 60 whole minutes of fat burning jumping on mini trampolines. Have fun while you work out.

Step & Tone - In this class you will be taken through an hour of Step Aerobics and body conditioning. Prepeare to sweat it out mid session with step routines, followed by some toning exercies and a cool down.

Krazy Kidz - Children from 5 to 15 can take part in our hour class. Classes will include aerobic circiuts and body conditioning.

Aqua Fit Aerobics - This is a 60 minute class which takes place in the NRG pool, which tones and works out the cardiovascular system. This is a great class for people with joint problems or recovering after an injury.

Aeromix - A 30 minute class of good old-fashioned aerobics with a twist.

Yoga - This class focuses on physical posture, breathing techniques and alignment whilst moving through a series of classical yoga positions. Suitable for all fitness levels.

Body Conditioning - Want to be a stronger skier, a faster runner, better cyclist and/or just improve your strength and stamina for everyday activities? Then this class will suit you as it focuses on strength, endurance and agility.

Pilates - Creating strength and relaxation for body and mind, this class improves posture and mobility.

Spinning - This is a 30 minute heart pumping indoor cycle class. Specially designed stationary bikes allow for speed cycling and hill climbs. Guaranteed to get you sweating and burning lots of calories.

Boxercise - Boxercise is a 60 minute workout using boxing techniques to get your cardiovascular system working. You will be taken through some body toning exercies to finish the intense session.

Body Blitz - A free style warm-up followed by an intense body work out from top to bottom using weights, fitness balls, and floor exercises.

Latin Aerobics - Get a great cardiovascular workout while learning new dance moves.

Boot Camp - This is a 30 minute class of muscle endurance exercies. This is a great motivational class and a great way to kick start your new year's reigme.

The extensive pool area contains a 25 metre, 6-lane competitive deck level pool. In addition it has a warm up pool, and a kiddies leisure pool which comes complete with a full size Pirate Ship, Bubble Pool and Interactive water features. If that is not enough to set your pulses racing there is also a 65m waterslide which proves a favourite with all.

The main pool is equipped with a moveable floor, which allows depths to be adjusted to suit individual sessions. There are public pool sessions seven days a week, from Lane Swimming to simply relaxing and paddling about. We now also have Sauna and Steam room facilities for our customers located on the pool deck at no extra cost. Check out our Opening Times for details of our public sessions

A variety of water based classes are also available and include Aqua Fit, Parent and Toddler sessions, morning lessons and of course Adult Swimming Lessons.

Disabled Users - Our Centre is fully wheelchair accessible, we have recently installed a hoist system to assist disabled users getting into and out of the pool and a specially designed disabled friendly changing room is also available to ensure that everybody can enjoy our great facilities.

Body Pump - The most successful group fitness program in history, BODYPUMP™ is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast!

Boxercise - A group class that incorporates a number of boxing moves and techniques without the physical contact. An excellent workout guaranteed....” Get that Body Movin”

Pilates - Improve the use of key muscles in the body,focus on postural alignment and strengthen the deeper abdominal muscles. Establish stability and mobility throughout the entire body.

Cycle Reebok - Cycle Reebok is an excellent exercise to strengthen your heart and tone your legs! The class consists of each participant seated on special stationary bikes. The instructor then takes the class on a ‘ride' that includes sprinting and other fun exercises like intervals and circuits. Classes are 45 minutes long.

Stability Ball - Want to burn more calories, even at rest? Always fancied that flat, toned tummy? Hoping to keep your back strong and injury free? Try our new class – a fun workout using Swiss Balls. Used in spinal rehabilitation since the 1960's; now helping to revolutionise your workout to increase core strength, muscular tone and posture.

Cardio Workout - Classic Aerobic workout. This 45 minute class is designed to give you an excellent Total body workout with mixed combinations & varying moves. Designed to improve overall fitness.

Step Reebok - This class involves a variety of choreographed routines based around a step platform. Suitable for all levels of fitness.

Total Body Tone - This session will be a combination of aerobics, step aerobics and is sure to challenge all fitness levels. The class will be of one-hour duration and is designed to improve all components of fitness.

Aqua Aerobics - Aqua Aerobics combines the cardiovascular benefits of full body rhythmic exercises in shallow and/or deep water, with toning exercises that are designed to use upper and lower body moves to strengthen and firm. Water provides great resistance with minimum impact to the body! Move to the music.

Body Fusion - Group class that incorporates an aerobic workout with overall toning.

Yoga - Promote your inner health and well being with Hatha Yoga. Creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility.

The Ocean fitness centre feature two swimming pools, an 18-metre hydrotherapy pool and a 25-metre, six-lane pool with the unique feature of a movable floor. Members can also enjoy the massive 16-seater Jacuzzi, as well as a steam room and sauna.

Ocean Fitness boasts three separate gym areas and three independent group exercise studios. The advanced gym areas features 'Purestrength' equipment, similar to that used in the warm-up area at the Beijing Olympics. It also features a 'Kinesis' wall to increase flexibility and to facilitate movement training in specific sports such as golf, swimming and tennis. Its dedicated boxing area will also include a heavy bag, an angle bag and a speed bag.

When paying in cash, please carry exact amount as instructors do not typically carry change
Refunds are given on receipt of proof of injury or illness preventing you from exercising for at least three weeks.
For classes, the full amount for the course must be paid at the first class.
For GPT, payment is not required until the end of your first session
- If you don't wish to proceed at this stage, you pay for that session only
- If you do proceed, the total cost of the package must then be paid in full

Group Personal Training (GPT) sessions are specifically structured to achieve the health and fitness goals of the group members. You therefore get a personalized workout, personalized attention, and you get it at an affordable price!!

• Receive personal training at the price of group training
• Choose a day, time and venue that fits in with your lifestyle and routine
• More fun, more motivating, and you'll be committed!

How does it work?
• Form your own group or inquire if you can be added to an existing group (of similar fitness levels and with similar goals)
• Tell us your goals and needs
• Complete the FITgroups health and screening questionnaire
• Have an individual or group fitness assessment (optional) *

*Individual and Group Fitness Assessments: The health and screening questionnaire is quite sufficient for some groups. In these cases, the questionnaire plus talking with your instructor prior to your first session is all that is required to enable him/her to structure your workout. If you would like a more detailed fitness assessment, both individual and group assessments are available. The detailed fitness assessments are frequently used by group members in helping them define their goals. The results of the assessment can also be used for re-test purposes to allow us measure your progression.

Initial fitness assessments are carried out a few days before your first session so that the results are available to use when planning your workout.

• Your workout is then structured according to the goals, fitness levels and needs of all group participants
• You and your instructor agree a day, time and venue
• GPT sessions can be formatted in a number of ways:
• The format can mirror one of FITgroups weekly classes. For example, four pregnant ladies may request an outdoor ante natal class just for them!
• The format can solely be structured according to the group's goals, needs and requests.

Group Classes

Post Natal babyFIT - Classes are for new Mums and Babies. These classes are suitable for all new Mums and include specially adapted exercises to ensure Mums work within their "fat burning zone" - vital for losing pregnancy weight. They focus on slowly re-building aerobic fitness, on strengthening the "muscles of motherhood", on improving posture and relieving post natal aches and pains. You will also receive complimentary nutritional advice for general health, weight loss and post natal health.

Pregnancy babyFIT - Enjoy gentle strengthening and stretching exercises to help you feel good during your pregnancy, and to help you prepare physically and emotionally for childbirth and a healthy and speedy recovery!

Over 50s stretchFIT - Classes focus on improving mobility, flexibility and posture. Class concludes with 10 mins relaxation.

Over 50s walkFIT - Classes are held outdoors and focus on improving cardiorespiratory fitness (for health heart and lungs) using walking drills.

Over 50s toneFIT - Classes focus on toning the abdominal, back, leg and arms muscles, thereby strengthening muscles and bones!

FIT Ball - Tone up the fun way with the stability ball. An extremely effective way to get in shape, tone, lose the extra pounds and inches or just keep fit.

Combo Class - This class combines the best of step aerobics and toning exercises. Includes muscle conditioning and stretching.

Step Aerobics - Cardiovascular workout, stepping on and off the adjustable height step. Movements are co-ordinated and choreographed to music.

Tae Bo - An excellent fat burner & cardiovascular workout and easy to learn with no complicated choreography. Tae Bo is unlike any workout program you’ve ever tried before.
